Palfinger Truck-Mounted Forklift – Custom Cab

This customer came to us with a simple ask and a tough problem: they needed to keep operators safe and comfortable on a pair of new truck-mounted forklifts, and there were no cab options on the market for these units. They shipped the machines to our shop, and our team went to work.

Custom steel and polycarbonate cab built on a Palfinger truck-mounted forklift

Project Overview

The goal on this build was straightforward: protect the operator from weather and jobsite debris, keep visibility high, and make sure the cab worked around the machine’s existing controls and tight clearances. Because there was no OEM cab or aftermarket kit available, this enclosure was engineered from the ground up specifically for this Palfinger setup.

What We Built

A full custom cab enclosure designed around the real machine in front of us.

  • Steel cab frame with polycarbonate for clarity and impact resistance
  • Offset door design to clear the factory door handle and ignition switch
  • Interior and exterior door handles for easy entry and exit
  • Integrated mount for a compact heater to keep operators warm in cold weather
  • Windshield wiper kit with washer fluid reservoir and rocker switch control panel
  • Clean routing and service access points to keep maintenance simple

Built by Our Engineering & Fab Teams

This is the kind of project that shows what our team can do. Our engineers handled all the fitment work – mapping out sightlines, swing paths, and clearances – and then our fabrication crew brought it to life with tight welds, clean bends, and a factory-level finish.

We’re proud of this one. The whole production team knocked it out of the park, and it’s a perfect example of what’s possible when you hand a tough problem to a group of talented people who love building cabs.

How This Custom Build Came Together

For this project, the customer shipped the forklifts directly to our facility. From there, our team:

  • Inspected the units and documented all critical clearances and controls
  • Developed a cab design around the machine and its daily workflow
  • Fabricated, test-fit, and refined the cab components on the actual equipment
  • Finished and installed the completed cab so the units could go straight to work

Project Requirements

Because this custom build was engineered specifically around the actual unit, we do not ship these as kits. The equipment must be brought to our facility so we can handle all measurements, fabrication, test-fitting, and installation directly on the machine.

  • Customer arranges transport of the machine to and from our shop
  • We complete all engineering, fabrication, and installation onsite
  • The finished machine leaves ready to go directly to work

If you can ship your equipment to us, we can build a cab that fits it perfectly.
